The Dial Direct Pothole Brigade expands its scope to cover an additional 65 Ekurhuleni suburbs
February 2012The Dial Direct Pothole Brigade is branching out. From 2 March 2012, Ekurhuleni residents in suburbs including Actonville, Tamboville, Dayaglen, Germiston, Boksburg, Brakpan and Benoni* can expect to see The Dial Direct Pothole Brigade and the impressive Jetpatcher vehicles levelling menacing potholes as part of phase two of the initiative with the Ekurhuleni Municipality.
Since October 2011, the Dial Direct Pothole Brigade has repaired 15 000 potholes on the East Rand as part of phase one of its initiative with the Ekurhuleni Municipality.
Up to now, the team has covered the terrain West of the R21, North of the N12, East of the N3 and South of Modderfontein. This includes suburbs such as Birchleigh, Isando,Jet Park, Kempton Park, Meadowdale, Greenstone Hill, Eden Glen, Edenvale, and Dowerglen.
Phase two will include suburbs South of the N12, West of the R23, North of the N17 and East of the N3, such as Northmead, Farrarmere, Airfield, Alphen Park, Bonaero Park, Impala Park, Atlasville, Brentwood and Goedeburg.
“We’re pleased to be increasing our scope on the East Rand. With three Jetpatcher vehicles, the Dial Direct Pothole Brigade is geared to fix up to 3300 potholes per month in 108 suburbs in the Ekurhuleni metro.
“The success of our campaign hinges on the input we get from the public. We urge Ekurhuleni residents and motorists to proactively report the potholes they encounter on Ekurhuleni’s roads,” says Telesure MD, Thomas Creamer.
Dial Direct runs the pothole repair initiative in conjunction with Lead SA, the Gauteng Provincial Department of Roads and Transport and Ekurhuleni Municipality. The campaign was officially launched in January 2011 after the pilot project, which kicked off in August 2010, proved so successful.
In addition to Ekurhuleni, the team continues to work on the Gauteng Provincial Department of Roads and Transport (GPDRT) roads.
There are three ways to report potholes to the Dial Direct Pothole Brigade:
If the pothole is within The Dial Direct Pothole Brigade’s scope of repair – they will fix it. If not, it will be reported to the relevant roads agency.
