Budget Insurance was recently voted the winner of the Short-Term Insurance category in the 2013/2014 ICON Brands Survey, which was conducted by the Target Group Index (TGI).

According to TGI, ICON brands are brands that are quintessentially South African brands. They are used by South Africans of all races, creed or colour, irrespective of background or living standard. These are brands that define a common experience, often on a daily basis to which South Africans are committed to in a real sense: they put their money where their mouths are to demonstrate this commitment. South Africans love them, are loyal to them and will even look for them when abroad.

According to Martin Janse van Rensburg, Budget Insurance’s spokesperson, “Since 1998, Budget Insurance has provided the South African public with motor, household and business insurance. We are a proudly South African company and our products are designed with the South African consumer, and his or her wallet in mind.”

The ICON Brand Survey is the largest of its kind in South Africa. 15 000 consumers were surveyed, representing over 19.8 million adult South African consumers. The data was weighted using the Statistics South Africa’s population estimates.

A key feature of the methodology is that ICON brand scores were not aggregated across product or sub product categories. This gives the survey a unique product category and sub brand focus.

Janse van Rensburg concludes, “This recognition is indeed an honour. We will continue to offer South Africans value for money insurance at low low premiums.”
